Macramé never really started with me. My mum and her sister started tying "Pasco bands" when they were travelling around North America and selling them out of the back of their Kombi van in the early 80's. I learn to make the same bands with brightly coloured twine which entertained me for a few years
For me, knotting is a therapeutic practice. Anything that takes great concentration also requires distraction - it's like my brain needs a menial task to complete the higher functioning tasks related to creativity. I could tell you what a was binging on Netflix for each wall hanging in my collection.
